Popcorn

Every few months Andy Gordon of Sound Talent hosts a Popcorn night that screens some of the best new short films and creative film work selected by Sound Talent.

Popcorn was set up because it is much better for filmmakers to see their work screened in front of an interested industry audience rather than just sending out a dvd or web link and there is no better creative hub than London.

It is also much better for the industry audience to be able to see the carefully selected and compiled new (and often as yet unseen) work of exciting new talent in front of an audience.

Selected films have come from emerging award winning film talent including Ian Gouldstone, Tony Roche, Zam Salim, Marcus Shepherd, Matt Kirkby and Andrea Kapos just to name a few,

The film makers involved are invited to attend and talk briefly about their work.

Popcorn has an informal setting and invited guests are encouraged to bring a friend or colleague along.  Screenings are kept to under 60 minutes and normally take place just after work.

From the very start leading UK shorts distributor Dawn Sharpless of Dazzle Short Film Label has helped source the films.

Popcorn focuses on supporting emerging and cutting edge UK talent but also screens some international often unknown gems. It has links with the likes of the Short Film corner in Cannes, Zagreb International Film Festival, Festival Opalcine and with the broadcaster France 2.

Invited industry guests that have attended include representatives from Screen International, RSA, Contentfilm, Discovery Channel, Independent, UKFC, B3 Media, Glue, Passion Pictures, Red Brick Road, Screen Channel and Warner Bros.

Popcorn is held often but not exclusively at the lovely dual screened bar in Envy Post.
